E-BIKES

What is an e-bike? And why use one?

An e-bike is just like a regular bicycle but with an integrated motor.

Riding an e-bike is the same as riding a normal bike, only better, because you still have to pedal, but when you need that little help you just start the engine and choose the level of assistance you want. In a trip with participants who have different performance levels, the assistance provided by an e-bike brings the group together, regardless of their level of performance. You can choose between several levels of assistance and thus control the power and decide the level of difficulty of your journey!

Just adjust the engine to increase or decrease the power of your ride and go further and faster. Explore the possibilities and enjoy your rides even more! Even in a group nobody needs to ride same as others! That's why we always have electric bikes as an option on our trips!

Freedom

Just a small push can lead to incredible possibilities! With an electric bike, no ride is too long, no load is too heavy, and there's no place where your legs can't take you. Exercise more and feel incredible cycling the planet feeling lighter. Best of all, have fun on the way! Electric bikes amplify your ability to go further and faster than ever before!

How pedal assist motors work

Electric bicycles run using an electric motor and a battery that help drive it. On electric bicycles with pedal assistance, you control the power the engine provides and assistance only kicks in when you pedal. That means you do have to pedal, but by starting the engine the bike becomes lighter and the miles flow without much effort from the cyclist. When you want a bigger challenge, on most bikes, just turn the motor off and it will work as a regular bike.

Electric Motor

Depending on the model, the engine of an e-bike has between 250 and 350 watts of power and assistance of up to 32 or 45 km/h. But you can go even faster than that without feeling too much engine resistance.

Battery

The batteries used in electric bicycles are mostly removable and it is very simple to take them out and with you to recharge them anywhere, requiring only a cable to plug it into the outlet. The recharging time varies and has been improving every year.

Display/Control

The displays show information such as the assistance mode we choose to ride, usually three or four different levels, plus speed and battery level.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

In the countries where our trips take place you do not need a license.

In most countries it is allowed to ride with an e-bike anywhere that is allowed to ride with a regular bicycle.

Most bicycles weigh between 18 and 25 kg.

There are e-bikes where it is not necessary to pedal, but the type of bike we rent, pedelec, only provides assistance when pedaling.

Yes. If the battery has run out or you want to exercise more, just turn off the assistance and it will ride like a regular bike.

The assistance level and on/off control is performed on the display or some other controlling device on the handlebars.

PERFORMANCE

Between 3 and 8 hours to fully load.

Few models have a recharging system when braking or on descents. In addition to being more expensive, they make pedaling add resistance to the ride.

Depending on the route, assistance level, wind, among others, it can have a range of 20 to 80 km per battery charge.

The assistance system stops working from 25-45 km/h, depending on the e-bike model and the country's legislation. But it is possible to go faster with the strength of your own legs!
