This tour takes us from Italy, through Slovenia and into Croatia to explore the Istrian Peninsula. We ride to pretty towns and along the beautiful coastline, soaking up the culture and history of this unspoiled area.

We cycle through pleasant, picturesque towns along this beautiful coastline, immersing ourselves in the culture and history of this area that has yet a lot to be explored.

We visit Porec and Rovinj, which were lively trading centers during the time of the Roman Empire, while in the interior of Istria, we visit Groznjan, a beautiful fortified medieval town perched on a hill.

Amidst these interesting towns, we'll see the vineyards and olive groves that tell us about the culinary traditions of this region. Here, truffles are just one of the typical gastronomic specialties we can taste.

Day 1: Arrival in Trieste

Individual arrival in Trieste.

Meeting at hotel and walking city tour.

This enchanting town, with good vibration, will delight you from the very first sunset, one of the many you will see along the beautiful bike ride along the Adria.

Dinner and overnight in Trieste.

 

Day 2: Trieste - Piran

After breakfast, we will begin our cycling adventure through 3 countries, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, starting with the legendary Parenzana route, an ancient railroad linking this region.

Cycling mainly along the coast we enter Slovenia following this cycle path that passes through famous towns such as Koper, an important city, which was long ruled by Venice, and Izola, a small fishing town.

Continuing our tour we arrive in Piran, a town nestled on a small peninsula. Piran shines with beautiful Venetian architecture, tasty food, and turquoise waters.

You can spend the afternoon enjoying the town or even take a dip in the Adriatic Sea! Here in Piran, conveniently located, is our hotel.

3° dia: Piran - Buje /Volpia

After breakfast, continue south, you will pass the Secovlje salt pans, which is an important area for birdwatching. A few kilometres further on, you cross the Croatian border and climb along Istria, the largest peninsula in the Adriatic.

Then a moderate climb begins, offering beautiful views of Piran Bay and the salt flats. From here the road is mainly tarmac/gravel.

Today we wil cross the border into our third country: Croatia. Over the next few days we'll understand why this region of Croatia is so renowned

4º dia: Buje/Volpia - Groznjan – novigrad

After breakfast we start our day cycling through magnificent hilly landscapes and Istrian vineyards. It will be obvious why the region is also called the Croatian Tuscany.

We make a stop in the charming medieval town of Groznjan, known for its many art and music festivals, art galleries, etc. We can have a lovely truffle dish for lunch here. After lunch we leave Groznjan and head down to the coast to the beautiful medieval town of Novigrad. 

The romantic fishing village of Novigrad with its picturesque old town is located on a peninsula that was connected to the mainland in the 18th century. The coast of Novigrad is home to numerous beautiful bays.

5º dia: Novigrad – Poreč

In the morning we continue our tour towards Poreč.

We will cycle along the coast and its beautiful bays, where we can enjoy breathtaking Mediterranean scenery, with vineyards and verdant olive groves. 

In the afternoon we reach Porec, the city where material and spiritual evidence of great cultures can be found at every step: the old Roman forum, the famous Euphrasian Basilica with its mosaics, also palaces belonging to the city's nobles and fortifications.

Day 6: Poreč – Rovinj

We start the day riding along the coast and arrive in Vrsar, a romantic fishing town situated on a hill where the famous Casanova had been a few times.

Our bike tour continues through a magical forest with a panoramic view of the beautiful Lim Bay landscape. We will be in an area where many legends and mysteries based on historical events still live on. Passing through Kanfanar, we will end this day in Rovinj.

After passing through Kanfanar, we will finish this day ride in Rovinj. Also called Little Venice, Rovinj is a typical Mediterranean seaside resort that will seduce you with its extraordinary beauty. In the old town center, there are numerous magnificent palaces from different historical periods, and today most of them house a gallery or art studio. At the top of the hill, there is the Baroque church of St. Euphemia, the largest monument in the city and from where we have a magnificent view of the Mediterranean.

Day 7: Rovinj – Pula

After breakfast we start cycling along the coast towards Pula. We cycle through the Palud ornithological reserve with a rich variety of ornithological fauna.

We reach Fažana, located on the coast, well protected from the open sea by the Brijuni Archipelago National Park and surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Fažana was well known even in the time of the ancient Romans.

In the afternoon we will arrive in Pula - a city situated on seven hills, with a magnificent amphitheater, like in Rome. Pula is the largest city in Istria with many cultural and artistic monuments such as the Triumphal Arch of Sergius (1st century BC), the famous Arena, a Roman amphitheater (1st century BC).

We will explore a little more of the city's history and then have the last dinner with the group.
